Kassiopi - Corfu

Corfu is much more than just a summer destination!

Corfu has historically been viewed as a summer destination when you are blessed with 30 degree heat, daily wall to wall sunshine and sea temperatures akin to a bath. However Corfu has much more to offer than this and many guests come during the Spring, Autumn and even the Winter periods, With many airlines providing earlier and later direct UK flights, or a short diversion to Athens, Corfu is accessible all year round
During the Spring, nature awakes from its winter hibernation and the wild flowers just spring up across the landscape, its such a great time to explore the island. Generally the days are warming up with the odd rainy day and evenings still cool. Its a time of preparation & excitement of what the new season will bring and restaurants are gradually opening up, with many open from Easter onwards.
The Autumn feels different, after the summer is over the locals are slowly winding down from what will have been another busy season, its their time to enjoy themselves! Its still warm and in November 2024 we had temperatures in the high 20's for the majority of the month, with the odd rainy day in-between. Restaurants & Bars are still open until the end of October all over the island and in Corfu Town they remain open all year round.
During the Winter, with snow visible on the Albanian mountains it will feel much cooler and there will be rain, but once the sun is up on a clear day you can still feel its warmth. The direct flights into Corfu end in November however by flying into Athens and then connecting to Corfu its still only a few hours from the UK, or perhaps spend a night or two exploring the historic sights of Athens. Christmas is a truly magical time to visit Corfu!

During these periods there is so much to do in Corfu rather than relaxing by the pool, including:

Walks & Hiking - The Corfu trail reaches from the southern most tip of the Island near Kavos, to the northern peninsular in Agios Spyridon (www.thecorfutrail.com). Although there are many hill walks to enjoy on the door step of Little Olive Press, including the Erimitis Nature Reserve which is only 5 minutes away..

Mountain Biking - Corfu Fat Bikes based in Acharavi, (just down the road) will hire you an electric assisted bike or why not bring your own?

Deserted Beaches - During the summer months Corfu can get busy, especially the beaches. Outside of this period the water is still warm and the sun still shines, enjoy some long beach walks or just relaxing on the sand.

Corfu Town at Christmas - Its such a magical time to visit Corfu Town, you can still sit in bars on the Liston having a coffee (or beer!) or wander the Venetian streets looking at all the beautiful Christmas Decorations

Easter - The Greeks are Orthodox Christian and therefore their Easter period doesn't often match the Anglican Easter celebrated in the UK. It is a time of much celebration in Corfu, with street parties, fireworks and the tradition of the clay pots being thrown from balconies (which has to be seen to be believed!). Its one of the best times to come to Corfu and books up fast.

Car Hire - during the summer months can be quite expensive, as much as £500 for a weeks hire. Outside of this busy period its very cheap indeed, a week in October can cost less than £50!

Many of the villas built in Corfu are designed to cope with the high Summer temperatures. Outside of the Summer the evenings get cold and in Winter there can even be the odd snow flurry, so choosing accommodation with this in mind is key to enjoying your holiday.

The Little Olive Press has the following:
1) Open log fire in both the Lounge Diner and Games room.
2) Double Glazing throughout
3) Underfloor heating through out the Villa supplied by an Oil fired boiler.

You are assured to keep warm even on the coldest of nights!
