Terms & Conditions when booking The Little Olive Press

Our priority is to provide our Guests with a fantastic experience and we look forward to welcoming you as guests. For both the security of our Guests and ourselves all bookings are made in acknowledgement of the following Terms and Conditions:
 
Definitions:
We / Us means the Owners of Villa named The Little Olive Press, located in Kassiopi, Corfu 49020 Corfu Greece. Mr. Jonathan Gaillard & Mrs. Alison Gaillard
You / Your / Lead Traveller / Guest means the Individual / s that have booked a short term rental of the Villa as detailed on the Booking Confirmation
Property / Villa means The Little Olive Press, located in Kassiopi, Corfu 49202 Greece
 
Booking & Payment: 
The calendar and price list is displayed on the Booking & Availability page of the website (www.littleolivepress.gr).  The applicable price along with any additional services requested will be confirmed by email at the time of booking together with the applicable deposit. A deposit of 30% is payable to confirm your booking. The balance will be due 8 weeks before the start date of your booking.

The Lead Traveler must be authorised to make the booking on behalf of all party members and accepts the following contract terms on behalf of everyone named in the booking. A binding contract between Mr. & Mrs. J Gaillard and the Lead Traveller will come into existence when we have sent you the Booking Confirmation email, the deposit has been received and you have confirmed your acceptance of these Terms & Conditions when completing your booking form.
 
The applicable price of your booking will be as confirmed by email at the time of booking. You accept that all prices advertised on the website are subject to change from time to time and without notice until acceptance of your booking has been confirmed by us.  Once the booking has been confirmed by email the price will not change, unless you specifically add any additional services.
 
The price includes oil, electricity, water, mid-week linen change plus any maid service as specified and any other extra services as specified at the time of booking. There may be an additional charge in the event of excessive usage of any included service. Linen changes may be subject to change due to water shortages or other Force Majeure causes.
 
The final payment for your booking will be due 8 weeks (56 days) prior to your rental start date. We will send you a reminder 10 weeks prior to the rental start date. Should your initial booking take place 8 weeks or less prior to the start date, full payment of the total cost must be made at the time of booking.
 
Local tourist and other taxes may be payable in addition to the cost of your booking. In 2023 Greece battled fires and floods that left extensive damage across the country. In 2024 the Greek Government imposed a "Climate Resilience Tax" on tourists to aid the reconstruction of the country's infrastructure. In 2024 this tax was 10 Euros per night for the entirety of the Villa irrespective of the number of Guests. It has been indicated that the 2025 tax will be the same. The tax will be payable by you during your stay and we will give you a further explanation together with the reminder for your final balance payment.
 
Insurance:
It is a condition of booking that all our Guests have valid Travel Insurance, including health and repatriation cover, is the responsibility of the Lead Traveller to ensure that all party members have such insurance prior to travel.

Property damage & Security Deposit:
 
A Security Deposit of £1500 must be paid at the same time as the final payment of the booking. The Security Deposit will be held by us and will be returned to the Lead Traveller within 1 week of the end of your stay, less any deductions which may be required to cover the cost of any damage/breakage/loss.  Guests are expected to respect the Villa and its contents at all times.
 
You are responsible for any damage to the property and any damage to, or loss of any item of the property inventory during your occupation of the property. A charge will be made to cover the cost of repair or replacement.  If the security deposit held is insufficient to cover the cost of any damage or loss then we will seek to recover this from the Lead Guest
 
Your responsibilities:
It is your responsibility to obtain and bring all documents required for your holiday and to ensure these are in proper order. The lead name must ensure that all party members have adequate travel insurance cover, a valid passport and any necessary visas. Insurance cover is advised for loss, damage or theft of personal property as this is not covered by our insurance company.
 
Guest are expected to use common sense in not bothering neighbours or making noise during quiet hours (14:30-18:00 and 23:00-8:00). We have provided a Sonos wireless music system however please do respect our neighbours during the quiet times, it could result in the local police being called and any fines they issue will be your responsibility to pay.
 
Guests are expected to conserve water & energy.  Electricity is extremely expensive in Corfu. Please turn off lights, fans, cooking appliances, air-conditioners, water heaters, TVs, phone chargers when not necessary. Water is scarce in Corfu, use it, do not abuse it.  In the event of mains water outage the Villa does have a large cistern (30,000litres) which should be sufficient for Guests however it may need to be refilled if excessive water is used. Wasting water may not only entail an extra charge of £150 per week of stay but also leave you without water if we need to arrange for a water tanker delivery.
 
In Corfu there is no refuse collection from individual properties, instead there are publicly located bins a short walk from the Villa.
 
Guest Safety:
We absolutely cherish the safety of our Guests and will do everything we can reasonably do to safeguard it. However, in no case will we be held responsible for accidents or Acts of God that may result in sickness, injury or death, including consequential damages from the rental and use of Villa. By paying your booking deposit you are accepting these Terms and Conditions and fully legally waive any future claim against the us, in case any such event occurs to one or more of you during your stay.
 
It is your responsibility to keep all children and adults at the Property safe, especially in & around water.  Guests assume full responsibility for the use of the swimming pool. PLEASE NEVER LEAVE CHILDREN UNATTENDED PLAYING AROUND OR WITHIN THE SWIMMING POOL. Greek safety standards and regulations may not reach the same levels as those in the UK. Please take all precautions to protect yourselves whilst on holiday, especially around swimming pools, balconies and high terraces.
 
Cleaning Service & Villa Maintenance:
A maid/cleaning service is included. All necessary linens and bath towels are provided for your convenience. Pool towels are also provided; however, we do not permit linens to be taken from the Villa. Maid duties are to clean the Villa and change linen, not do Guests laundry, ironing, cooking or wash the dishes. Supporting staff (maid, gardener, pool/garden maintenance people) will enter the property at pre-agreed times in order to conduct their duties
 
It is your responsibility to ensure the Villa is handed over tidy and reasonably clean, as there is only a short window between you vacating the Villa and the next Guests arrival. An extra cleaning fee up to £200 may be subtracted from the security deposit if the property is left excessively dirty.
 
If you have arranged for a breakfast hamper or a private chef to cook for you, special diets/allergies should be notified to us in writing at the time of booking. However, it is not always possible for special diets to be catered for. No guarantee as to the availability of any special diet can be given. Whilst dietary restrictions of which we are notified in writing in good time before departure (including food related allergies) will be passed on to the third parties we cannot guarantee that such restrictions will always be observed and accordingly do not accept liability if they are not. You must satisfy yourself that any food you consume will not cause an allergic reaction.
 
Cancellation: 
If you are forced to cancel your booking, you must notify us by email Cancellation takes effect on the date we receive your written notification.
 
If you cancel more than 8 weeks before your booking start date, your deposit will be forfeited.
 
If you cancel within 8 weeks of your booking start date you must pay the full balance unless we can get a replacement booking of the Villa for the period of your holiday. If we are able to do so, where the amount received for the replacement booking is at least as much as the cost of your holiday, you will receive a refund of your booking cost less your deposit (which we are entitled to retain). Where the amount received for the replacement booking is less than the cost of your booking, both the difference in cost and the deposit will be deducted from your booking cost and the balance refunded to you.
 
In the event that any additional expenses are incurred in obtaining a replacement booking, such as the payment of commission to a third party, these too will be deducted from any refund. In any case it is advised that you check that your travel insurance provides good cover for reasons to cancel.
 
Any alteration to the booking such as a date change will be treated as a cancellation of the original booking (attracting cancellation charges) and as a new booking.  We will however carry over any deposit paid to a future booking providing we have not suffered a loss as detailed above.
 
Villa Arrival and Departure Times:
Check-in time is from 15.00 and Departure time is before 10.00. If you arrive early, then it may be possible to store your cases until the Villa is ready, providing previous Guests have departed.
 
If you have not vacated the Villa by 11am on the day of your departure then we reserve the right to charge £200 for the additional cleaners that will be required to make it ready for incoming Guests. This will be deducted from your Security Deposit. Upon vacating the Villa it may be possible for you to store your cases for a period before the arrival of incoming Guests.
 
Force Majeure: 
Circumstances Beyond our Control: We cannot be held liable or pay any compensation, reimburse expenses, or cover losses for any amount or otherwise accept responsibility if, as a result of circumstances beyond our control. When we refer to circumstances beyond our control, we mean any event that we could not foresee or avoid, even after taking all reasonable care. Such circumstances will usually include, but are not limited to, war, threat of war, airport closures, epidemic, natural or nuclear disaster, terrorist activity, civil unrest, industrial dispute, bad weather (actual or threatened), and significant building work ongoing outside of your accommodation.
 
During the busier summer months, there is an extra strain on the public services of a small island like Corfu. You may find that this affects your electricity supply, internet access, water supply, etc. The Island community values you as a paying visitor and will try to limit the inconveniences you might experience and generally any outage is resolved quickly.

In the event of any breakdown or failure of mechanical equipment such as pumps, boilers, etc. or any problems with public utilities (such as water and electricity) or any noise disturbance, please advise us ASAP. We will do everything we can to resolve any such problems but will not accept any liability.
 
Where we introduce a supplier to arrange any additional services, such as transfers, car and boat hire, chefs etc, we do so solely as an ‘agent’ and without any liability for the performance of those services or for the acts or omissions of the provider of the services. We do not receive any payment in respect of any such service which will usually be made to the service provider at the time (via a local agent). For any such service, you will have a contract with the service provider, which will be subject to the service provider’s terms and conditions. We cannot be held responsible for any complaints which arise locally. They must be dealt with there and then directly between you and the supplier.
 
Complaints: 
During your holiday, any problem with the Villa must be reported to us, the maid or another member of the team as soon as possible.  In most instances any issues can be resolved promptly and we assure you that we will do everything possible to ensure there is minimal impact on your experience. Compensation payments will only be considered where it is proven that any reported problem had a prolonged or major impact on the enjoyment of the Villa.
 
Accommodation Occupancy: 
The maximum number of persons that may stay in the Villa as 14 plus two infants in travel cots. This number may not be exceeded unless prior permission is sought and, we may ask for an extra charge for which you will make an additional payment. Pets are not permitted at the property unless we give prior permission.  There may be a Pet Deposit requested if permission is granted.
 
Data Protection: 
Personal booking Information will be retained by us and provided to the relevant suppliers of any additional services you may have requested such as a private transfer or private chef. The information may also be provided to public authorities such as customs or immigration if required by them, or as required by law. We will not pass your data to any other third parties, under any circumstances.
 
Governing Law and Jurisdiction: 

Your Booking and these Terms & Conditions, and any dispute or claim (including non-contractual disputes or claims) arising out of or in connection with it or its subject matter or formation, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of England and Wales.
